Petit Le Mans News Notebook: Weather Plans, Racing Team Nederland Confirm Pull-Out (Updated)

With Hurricane Ian set to gathering strength and heading for Georgia by Friday, IMSA is in watchkeeper mode ahead of the season finale for the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship and several support series.

The 25th anniversary Petit Le Mans is currently set to take place on Saturday though there are options to delay the race to Sunday (though with a local regulation that currently prevents track action between 10am and noon on Sundays) plus the track is currently slated to host the first three day test for all four incoming GTP manufacturers together

Racing Team Nederland No-Show?

A tweet this morning from Shea Adam reveals that the pit allocation plan for the weekend does not have the Racing Team Nederland Oreca listed.

Confirmation of the team;’s withdrawal is awaited after Team Owner Frits van Eerd was involved in a series of police raids in an investigation over money laundering in the Netherlands last week.

UPDATE – Now confirmed in a tweet from the team, the team will not race as van Eerd was decided to ” focus on his personal situation in the near future.”

Ulysse de Pauw Joins Cetilar GTD Effort

Ulysse De Pauw will replace Antonio Fuoco in the driver line-up for the #47 Cetilar Racing Ferrari at Petit Le Mans, the young Belgian joins Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto for his IMSA debut.

Fuoco will instead race at Barcelona where his Iron Lynx squad are looking to secure the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup.

De Pauw was a key part of the Silver Cup winning effort for AF Corse in the 2022 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup.

The event will mark the final race for the Cetilar team’s Ferrari 488 GT3, the Italian squad switching to the Ferrari 296 GT3 for the 2023 IMSA season.
