Nissan Reveals New Z GT4

Deliveries to begin in 2023

Nissan and NMC (Nissan Motorsports & Customizing) have officially revealed their newest customer racing sports car, the Nissan Z GT4.

Based on the newest-generation Z-car, also known as the Fairlady RZ34, the new Z GT4 will be delivered to customers beginning in the first half of 2023.

It follows up on the new Z’s successful debut campaign in the GT500 class of the SUPER GT Series this year.

“Motorsports for Nissan is an expression of our passion and unrivalled expertise. The Nissan Z continues to maintain its position as an exciting sports car that fascinates drivers with its driving dynamics and flexible powertrain,” said Nissan COO Ashwani Gupta. “We are confident that this track-ready GT4-category Nissan Z will be ready to write another chapter in the Nissan Z’s 50-plus-year legacy of speed.”

The Nissan Z GT4 will feature a tuned version of the three-litre, twin-turbocharged VR30DDTT V6 engine, along with enhancements to the chassis, suspension, and aerodynamics. The cockpit has been designed for ease of use for drivers of all skill levels, creating what Nissan describes as, “a race car that is a Nissan Z in all aspects, accessible to enthusiast drivers and hard-core professionals.”

“The Nissan Z GT4 is engineered to be a top-level racing car, offering balanced performance, safety, durability and ease of handling, but also affordability,” remarked Motohiro Matsumura, the Executive Vice President of NISMO. “Leveraging both the superior lineage of the VR30DDTT engine and the superb characteristics of the Nissan Z with its chassis and suspension, the GT4 is tuned and optimised for racing.”

“The aerodynamics have been enhanced as much as racing regulations allow, based on feedback from a wide range of drivers. The car delivers performance that can satisfy not only professionals, but also amateurs and a wide range of enthusiasts.”

Developed in NISMO’s engineering facilities, a prototype version of the Nissan Z GT4 has already been racing this year, when the Nissan Z “Racing Concept” made its debut in the Super Taikyu Series Fuji Super TEC 24 Hours. NISMO, in conjunction with Max Racing, have continued to hone and develop the car in subsequent Super Taikyu races, along with an extensive track testing programme.

Detailed vehicle specifications will be announced at the 2022 SEMA show in the United States, from 1-4 November.
