Ben Hanley To Race For United Autosports At Portimao & Monza

Replaces IMSA-bound Filipe Albuquerque

Ben Hanley is the nominated ‘supersub’ for United Autosports in the FIA WEC races at Portimão and Monza replacing IMSA-committed GTP driver Filipe Albuquerque in the #22 Oreca 07.

Hanley joins fellow Brit and 2020 WEC champion Phil Hanson and one other driver, who is yet to be announced.

Hanley’s United commitment matches that of Giedo van der Garde who is joining the sister #23 United car in place of the similarly double-booked Tom Blomqvist.

Ben has significant LMP race experience with race-winning form in the ELMS, FIA WEC and IMSA with DragonSpeed and as the reigning Asian Le Mans Series Champion with Nielsen Racing.

Ben Hanley: “Really excited to be joining United Autosports for two WEC races next season, after a brief test in Portimão where everyone made me feel really welcome, I’m looking forward to working with the team again. Let’s bring back some silverware!”

Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO: “Ben is another top-quality addition to our team and shows the level of determination we have to win races in 2023. Ben brings speed, experience and a no-nonsense approach to his racing that I love. I have been trying to get Ben in a United race car for quite some time, so we are all delighted to finally have this opportunity to race together.”
