High Class Racing will return to IMSA competition for a second consecutive season in 2023 with a full LMP2 programme.
After finishing third in the Michelin Endurance Cup points standings in their debut IMSA season with a pair of podiums at Mid-Ohio and Road America, the team is looking to build on their circuit experience in 2023.
They’ll start their campaign at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Dennis Andersen, Ed Jones, Anders Fjordbach and Raffaele Marciello behind the wheel.
Andersen and Jones will race the seven-round championship, Fjordbach will join them for the 2023 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup rounds which encompass the Rolex 24, Sebring, Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans while Marciello completes the roster for 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
27-year-old Emirati-born British driver Ed Jones took a podium finish at the 24h of Le Mans in 2022. His career highlights include 2013 European F3 title, 2016 Indy Lights title, a P3 in his Indianapolis 500 debut plus multiple podiums in IndyCar. This will be his third appearance in Rolex 24 at Daytona, his second in LMP2 class after taking a P5 in 2022
“Excited to be joining High Class racing for the 2023 IMSA season. The team had a strong first year in IMSA and we are looking to build on that. We have a solid lineup and expect to be fighting for wins from the get-go at Daytona”, said Ed Jones.
High Class Racing regular Dennis Andersen will be Ed Jones’ pair with the clear goal of improving on the 2022 results in this new challenge with the Danish team.
“In our first full season in IMSA, we showed great potential as a team with two podium finishes and a third place overall in the Michelin Endurance Cup. Now, one year wiser, I hope to fight again for even more ambitious goals with my teammates, starting with my third participation in the Rolex 24 at Daytona”, added Andersen.
This time 2021 GT2 European Champion and 2022 Asian Le Mans Series runner-up Anders Fjordbach will face the Michelin Endurance Cup challenge as part of his 2023 racing program.
“The team is growing more and more every year and I couldn’t be prouder. In 2022 we have proven to be at the level of the best in our class so I can’t wait to be on track again driving our beast alongside this world-class lineup”, stated Fjordbach.
Last, but not least, Raffaele ‘Lello’ Marciello will join Andersen, Fjordbach and Jones behind the wheel of the Oreca 07-Gibson completing 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona lineup which will be his debut in this race and his first outing in an LMP2 car.
After showing his talent in single-seaters as FIA F3 Champion and GP2 multiple race-winner, Marciello has become one of the top drivers in GT3 since 2018 winning GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and Sprint Cup titles and adding the 2019 FIA GT World Cup win, 24h of Spa win this season and 2022 ADAC GT Masters title to his record.
This will be his third time at Daytona and after taking P2 in the GTD class in 2021, he wants to fight for top honours in his LMP2 debut in 2023.
“I’m very happy and proud to have this first experience on an LMP2 car in Daytona because having raced there different times, also with podiums with the GTD, I saw the LMP2 cars from outside very, very quick so i’ve been always curious to drive one of this cars one day and now here we are! Thanks, High Class Racing for this and to AMG for letting me catch the opportunity. Can’t wait to get behind the wheel of his beast to give my best as always and thus reward the trust placed in me”, said Marciello.
