Winward Racing’s Race To The Race Begins

Spare AMG GT3 arrives In Daytona paddock

RJ O’Connell was on the spot as the overnight dash from Winward Racing’s Houston workshop paid off, their spare Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo was delivered minutes ago to the Daytona paddock with the team immediately starting work to prepare the car for tomorrow’s Rolex 24 Hours.

The switch of car was necessitated after a violent accident yesterday for Lucas Auer, set to have surgery today at a local hospital after suffering lumbar vertebrae injuries.

The accident and the required extraction of the driver wrote off the team’s pole-setting #57 car.

The team is understood to have requested an opportunity for ‘hardship’ laps out of session to check systems ahead of the race start with the final all-classes practice session underway now and no programmed warm-up session ahed of race start at 13:40 local time tomorrow.
