McLaren Trophy America will move to a new sanctioning body for the 2027 season, departing SRO America’s package of events to a new long-term sanctioning deal with IMSA.
Next year will mark the fourth season of McLaren’s North American one-make series.
Along with McLaren Trophy Europe, it was conceived to convince McLaren’s road car customers to go racing.
McLaren Trophy America utilises the potent Artura Trophy Evo, a car with significant aero, performance and handling upgrades from the outgoing Artura GT4.
The series expanded to allow professional driver line-ups to compete from 2024. A strategic move to help broaden the talent pool for McLaren Motorsport’s factory driver programme.
This summer, selected drivers from both the European and American series will be invited to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
They will take part in a driver assessment programme, that could see successful candidates join the 2027 McLaren Motorsport factory driver programme.
The initiative forms a key part of McLaren’s commitment to their McLaren Trophy platform, as determined by recently appointed Head of Motorsport Giorgio Sanna.
