Hertz Team JOTA look set to add entries to the Rolex 24 Hours and “some other North American races” to their Porsche 963 programmes in future seasons.
Confirming too that the team plans to double up with a second Porsche 963 in 2024, Team partners David Clark and Sam Hignett were bullish about the prospects for their squad, their backers and the future of the newly converged class.
“I hope others follow our path as privateers in the class. We think there are real opportunities for consumer brands in this marketplace to get real value from their investment. That’s why Hertz are backing this effort and their objective is simple, to build brand awareness and to talk to important current and future customers.”
The global car rental giant is joined on the flanks of the #38 Porsche by Porsche ‘re-imagineers’ Singer Ltd and American Football legend Tom Brady’s new apparel brand BRADY.
With all three major partners as US-based enterprises there’s little surprise that the team are closely examining racing opportunities stateside:
“The Rolex 24 at Daytona is in our plans in the future yes, and likely some more races in North America too,” said team team co-owner Sam Hignett, the indication being that this could come as early as next season.
The prospect of hypercar entrants from the WEC adding a GTP programme in IMSA is an exciting one – the age of convergence is beginning to bear real fruit!
