ADAC Nordrhein has revealed some additional details for its recently-announced 24H Nürburgring Series, which has plunged endurance racing at the ‘Ring into its latest chapter of controversy.
The 24H Nürburgring Series, launched last month, is set to add a second series of top-level endurance racing to the famed Eifel circuit, alongside the long-established Nürburgring Langstecken-Series (NLS).
Both the NLS and Interessengemeinschaft Langstrecken Nürburgring, a collaborative teams representative group, have responded negatively to the proposal to add the 24H Nürburgring Series to the calendar from 2027 onwards.
The initial announcement of the 24H Nürburgring Series featured limited detail, beyond a calendar and plans for full-season entries to receive guaranteed starting spots at its blue-riband ADAC 24H Nürburgring, with more information now having been released.
Alongside the traditional 24H Nürburgring categories, ranging from SP9 for GT3 cars to the production classes, a Polo Cup is set to be included.
Featuring the VW Polo GTI Cup cars, the Polo Cup will add another entry-level option for drivers and teams looking to compete at the Nordschleife.
“Of course, the top teams with their GT3s are often the focus of media coverage and TV broadcasts, that’s no secret,” said Walter Hornung, sports director of ADAC Nordrhein.
“But endurance racing, especially on the Nordschleife, thrives on the battles within the classes. That’s why GT4 cars, Cup cars, and production cars have been an integral part of our series for decades, and that will, of course, remain the case in the new 24h Nürburgring Series as well.”
The VW Polo GTI Cup is currently eligible for series such as Polo Cup Germany, which was launched this year, with Polo Cup Benelux set to be added next year. The car is built in South Africa, where the Polo Cup is a popular category of touring car racing.
ADAC Nordrhein has also confirmed how entry fees will work for the 2027 season. The deadline for full-season entries will close on 19th March 2027, with fees for full-season entries ramping up in three stages up until that point. Full-season entries will then benefit from reduced race-by-race entry fees throughout the campaign, although guest entries may also be accepted.
The race lengths for the inaugural calendar have been set. The new 24H Nürburgring Prologue, as well as the ADAC Eifelrennen, will feature one four-hour race, with the 24H Nürburgring Qualifiers retaining its format of two four-hour races. The season finale, the ADAC 1000km Rennen, will be a six-hour timed event.
The Deutsche Historische Langstecken Meisterschaft (DHLM) will feature on the support package at all rounds but the season opener, with three three-hour races before a 1000KM finale.

- Round 1: 24h Nürburgring Prologue, 1x 4-hour (2/3 April 2027)
- Round 2: 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers, 2x 4-hour (30 April/2 May 2027)
- Round 3: ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, 1x 24-hour (27/30 May 2027)
- Round 4: ADAC Eifelrennen, 1x 4-hour (30 July/1 August 2027)
- Round 5: ADAC 1000km Rennen, 1x 6-hour (10/12 September 2027)
