OMP to supply fire suits and safety equipment to ACO and LMEM
The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), Le Mans Endurance Management (LMEM) and Racing Force Group have announced a multi-year partnership agreement for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).
From the 2023 season, OMP – a Racing Force Group brand – will supply firesuits and safety equipment to the ACO and LMEM to protect their marshals, safety car drivers, members of the medical teams, TV production and communication staff, and security personnel.
“We are delighted to kick off this partnership with the ACO and LMEM to supply racing suits for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the FIA WEC and the ELMS,” said Luigi Rossi, Racing Force Group’s marketing manager.
“We are more enthusiastic than ever, considering how racing fans have embraced the Hypercar class and seeing the impact of this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. We shall put all our experience into supplying the best products around for ACO and LMEM staff working on the track, in the pit lane and in the paddock.”
WeatherTech extends naming rights deal for Laguna Seca
The Monterey County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a five-year extension for WeatherTech to continue as the naming rights partner of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
WeatherTech became the title sponsor of the County of Monterey-owned circuit in July 2018 for its initial five-year involvement. The new agreement will extend through June 30, 2028.
The annual sponsorship from WeatherTech amounts to $1 million per year.
“We are thrilled to have WeatherTech continue with their support in such a meaningful and enthusiastic way,” said John Narigi, president and general manager of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. “The WeatherTech team’s enthusiasm for motorsports and our community is unmatched.”
This adds to a string of positive news stories for the Californian circuit, which has been undergoing significant upgrades and improvements in 2023.
The new start/finish bridge, site and drainage work and repaving of the track are nearing completion. The reopening of the circuit will be held on July 7th with the MotoAmerica Superbike SpeedFest.
Impressive highlights numbers
A milestone has been reached for the FIA WEC’s YouTube channel over the past week. The extended highlights package from the Le Mans 24 Hours has eclipsed 1.2 million views. It is believed to be the first WEC highlights video on the channel to exceed the 1 million views mark.
Le Mans Classic’s huge car club contingent
The upcoming Le Mans Classic is set to welcome a huge crowd.
Over 200,000 spectators are set to travel to the event and over 210 car clubs are expected to bring 8,500 classic cars, which will be displayed on-site.
