Is A 2024 Lexus LMGT3 Effort On The Cards?

An RC F GT3 effort is believed to be coming together...

Lexus could be a surprise candidate for selection for the 2024 FIA WEC LMGT3 class.

Multiple sources have suggested to DSC that a high-profile GT3 team is working to join the World Championship with the existing RC F GT3 platform, ahead of the expected introduction of the replacement Lexus GT3 which will not be available until 2025 at the earliest.

If confirmed, the move puts the cat amongst the pigeons in an already crowded marketplace.

Lexus would likely be fast-tracked in the process as a result of the Toyota Hypercar programme alongside other existing or 2024 Hypercar marques: BMW, Cadillac (with Corvette), Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche.

Add into the mix privateer Hypercar class entrant Proton Competition with its newly-forged links with Ford Performance and the Mustang GT3, and that accounts for seven marques and 14 full-season entrants. The absolute maximum in 2024, DSC believes, would be nine marques and 18 entrants.

Look out for DSC’s fully updated rundown of the prospects for LM GT3 this week. There has been substantial movement in the eight weeks since we last reviewed the marketplace.
