The 2024 Ligier European Series calendar has been revealed ahead of the penultimate round of the 2023 season this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
For the championship’s fifth season, Ligier JS2 R and JS P4 drivers will visit six European circuits once again, including the Circuit de la Sarthe ahead of the Le Mans 24 Hours. The remaining five rounds will be held on the support bill for the European Le Mans Series, with Italian circuit Mugello featuring on the schedule for the first time.
The series will kick off in Spain for the second consecutive season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 12th and 13th April 2024. Then the teams will travel to France for races at the Circuit du Castellet on the 3rd and 4th May, before heading to the eagerly awaited round at Le Mans, held during the Test Day for the 24 Hours on June 9th. .
After the summer break, the competitors will return to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium on 23rd and 24th August before the series first visit to Mugello on 27th to 28th September.
As in previous years, the season will conclude in Portugal at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve from October 17th to 19th.
Each race weekend will feature two races, with the drivers competing for substantial prize packages worth €250,000, which enable the champions of the Ligier JS P4 and Ligier JS2 R categories to help them climb the endurance racing ladder.
The winner(s) of the JS P4 title will receive €150,000, to put towards a campaign in in the Michelin Le Mans Cup the following season behind the wheel of a Ligier JS P320. The JS2 R champion(s) meanwhile, will win €100,000 to use in a move up to the Ligier JS P4 category in the Ligier European Series the following year.
