Nico Prost Joins Toro Verde Ginetta Effort For Dubai 24H

Alongside Lawrence and Freddie Tomlinson and Mike Simpson

Toro Verde GT have confirmed that Le Mans class winner and sports car champion Nico Prost will join the team for the 24H Dubai, racing in the Ginetta G56 GT3 Cup car.

The contest will complete the three-round 24H Series Middle East Trophy ran by CREVENTIC. Last time out at the 12H Kuwait, the team achieved a debut win for the newly developed car, in the GTX class, the car running with boosted power and aero.

Nico joins Mike Simpson and Lawrence and Freddie Tomlinson for the final round, with his wealth of experience in endurance racing, including his LMP1-L (Le Mans Prototype 1-Lightweight) win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014, bolstering an already strong driver lineup.

The Frenchman has competed at the endurance classic ten times since 2007, with eight appearances in LMP1 and took third place in LMP2 in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2017.

He also raced in the FIA Formula E Championship for four seasons, taking three wins (including double success at the London ePrix), and has been a regular in the Trophée Andros ice racing series, Championnat de France FFSA GT, and the GT and single seater classes of the Ultimate Cup Series.

The next round of the 24H Series Middle East Trophy is set to take place in Abu Dhabi over the weekend of January 20-21 where the Ginetta will compete in the GTX class with Tomlinson father and son and Mie Simpson as driver crew before heading to Dubai for the final race over the weekend of January 26-28.

Nico Prost:

“I am really delighted to join Ginetta for the 24 hours of Dubai. It will be great racing with Lawrence, Freddie and Mike. It’s been a long time since my last 24 hour race but I am motivated and will prepare very hard for it as we want to get a great result there.”
