De Angelis Signs With APR For Le Mans

#25 ORECA line-up now complete

Algarve Pro Racing has revealed that Canadian racer Roman De Angelis will partner Matthias Kaiser and Olli Caldwell in the team’s #25 LMP2 class ORECA 07 Gibson for the Le Mans 24 Hours next month.

For 23-year-old Ontario native De Angelis, this move to APR is for his first Le Mans start. He brings years of high-level sportscar experience to the team from his time spent competing with Aston Martin partner Heart Of Racing in IMSA. His CV includes a 2022 GTD class title and Rolex 24 Hours GTD class win in 2023.

“I’m lucky enough to have had the opportunity to test with Algarve Pro last month in Barcelona,” said De Angelis. “I’ve never raced an LMP2 prototype before, but the transition from GTs wasn’t bad, especially as I had the support of a great team and teammates.

“I grew up as an endurance racing fan. I would always choose to watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans over Formula 1 races and my ambition was to compete in all the big endurance events. I’ve been fortunate to hit a lot of my targets, among other things winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona and an IMSA title.”

Kaiser and Caldwell currently compete with Algarve Pro Racing in the ELMS alongside 2023 series champion Alex Lynn in the #25 ORECA. Lynn will switch to Cadillac Racing duties for Le Mans as part of his full-season factory Hypercar drive in the WEC.
