Duqueine Automotive has become the third LMP3 constructor to show off its 2025 LMP3 model this evening after Ligier and ADESS launched their new cars in recent days.
Its new D09 is a refined version of the current D08 LMP3. It has been adapted to accommodate the new twin-turbo V6 engine from ORECA.
The car features multiple revisions, including updated cooling and rear-end aero. Its new aero package has been designed in cooperation with Italian engineering company Michelotto, which also works with Duqueine on the Isotta Fraschini FIA WEC Hypercar programme.
Ahead of the launch, Duqueine told DSC that it has focused on taking strides in performance with the D09, as it hopes to make its challenger a more well-rounded package for amateur drivers. The current car has always been strong on top speed, but at times tricky to drive through corners and set up for certain circuit types
“Duqueine Automotive’s investment in this project is massive” comments Jean-Karl Vernay, Duqueine Automotive’s head of customer racing.
”We did our utmost to improve the D08, which was already a very good base. Reliability, with the replacement of so-called obsolete parts, was one of the main targets during the development on multiple points: braking system, suspension, driveshafts… in order to create a reliable, high-performance prototype.
“Of course, we haven’t forgotten our enthusiast gentlemen drivers, with improved driveability for the driver, not to mention revised ergonomics for the cockpit. We can’t wait to see the D09 on track against its rivals to see where it stands.”
DSC understands that the date and venue for its first track test with the new engine are not yet set in stone. But its first run is expected imminently.
Subject to entries, the D09 is expected to compete in the ELMS and Le Mans Cup next season, as part of the initial rollout of the new-look LMP3 cars.
