Roberto Lacorte will make his GT Open debut in the Cetilar Racing #47 Ferrari 296 GT3 this weekend at Paul Ricard.
Lacorte will race solo in the Am class, part of a 35 car all-GT3 grid, the effort in addition to the team’s third season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Endurance series, sharing driving duties with Giorgio Sernagiotto and 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours winner Antonio Fuoco.
“This opportunity came up and I didn’t want to miss it for several reasons. First of all, Paul Ricard is a beautiful track that I really like and where I haven’t raced in a while,” commented Roberto Lacorte. “Secondly, the International GT Open is a championship I have always appreciated. Even if this is a one-off, since we will only be at Le Castellet, I am very pleased to experience it firsthand.
“The last aspect is more personal, but no less important,” Lacorte added. “During the same weekend at Paul Ricard, my son Nicola will also be racing in the sixth round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. We will likely see little of each other due to our respective commitments, but knowing we are both there brings me great joy.”
The Paul Ricard weekend kicks off today with two one-hour free practice sessions. The first qualifying session is scheduled for Saturday morning at 11:35 am, followed by the first of two 70-minute races at 17:45 pm. Sunday will see the second qualifying session from 9:30 am, with Race two (60 minutes) starting at 13:35 pm. Both races will be streamed live on the championship’s YouTube channel.
