DXDT Racing announced today that it will enter the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship full-time, competing in the GTD class with its #36 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
Based in Statesville, North Carolina, DXDT joins IMSA after a successful first season aligned with Corvette Racing in GT World Challenge America.
Corvette Racing factory driver Tommy Milner and team-mate Alec Udell gave the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R its first-ever victory in worldwide competition at Circuit of the Americas, the first of seven overall race wins and eight Pro class wins in a row, on the way to finishing second in the Pro Championship standings.
The team’s Pro-Am car, which debuted at Sebring International Raceway, added two more class victories that were co-authored by DXDT’s new Programme Manager, Bryan Sellers.
“I’m really excited to take what is a big step for DXDT to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in GTD next year,” said DXDT Team Owner, David Askew. “I began racing and working on building this team with the idea of eventually getting to IMSA, and everything that I’ve been doing over the past 10 years has been designed to help me achieve that goal. Erin Gahagan as the team manager has been instrumental in helping make this happen, and with the addition of Bryan Sellers to our front office, I think that we now have the right footing to take this step.
“The relationship that we’ve been building with GM and Pratt Miller is a big part of what we needed to compete successfully at the highest level. What we’ve done this year has shown us that, together, we can fight for podiums and wins anywhere we go. I’m looking forward to many years racing in the IMSA WeatherTech series. This is a huge turning point for the team, I can’t wait to see what happens in the future.”
Sellers, who drove the #64 DXDT Corvette in GT World Challenge America last season, added: “This is a very exciting time for everybody at DXDT Racing. This is something that David has aspired to do for quite a long time, and it’s something that we are all very much looking forward to getting the opportunity to do.
“ We’ve been trying to put this program together for a couple of years now and have just been waiting for the right time and the right partnership. Being able to pair with GM and Pratt Miller has given us the ability to move into this new program with confidence in what we’re capable of, while also being able to rely on their capabilities as well. We’re all very excited about the opportunity to grow the program in one of the best sports car racing series in the world.”
The #36 DXDT Corvette will represent General Motors in the GTD category alongside AWA, which has committed to a second season in GTD with Corvette in 2025.
Bronze driver Orey Fidani and team-mate Matt Bell have combined to score six top-ten finishes in GTD this year, and Fidani leads the Bob Akin Award standings among GTD Bronze drivers, with the prize of an automatic invitation into the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans at stake.
They’ll also be joined by two factory-run Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Z06 GT3.Rs in GTD Pro.
“We are thrilled to see multiple Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs in IMSA’s GTD class for 2025,” said Mark Stielow, the Director at Chevrolet Motorsports Competition Engineering. “DXDT Racing proved itself this year in GT World Challenge with double-digit victories across the Pro and Pro-Am classes in the first year with our Corvette GT3. We’re proud to support David Askew and DXDT Racing as they continue pursuing their goals in becoming a well-established and successful team across multiple series in sports car racing.”
Drivers for the project will be announced at a later date.
