The #51 AF Corse Ferrari saw F2 racer Roy Nissany turn laps with Le Mans Cup racer Ricardo Agostini on Sunday.
The team then cycled through a number of drivers during the remainder of the test across its two active cars on-site, including ex-Isotta Fraschini Hypercar driver Carl Bennett on Monday and Iron Lynx Lamborghini LMGT3 drivers Claudio Schiavoni and Matteo Cressoni on Sunday.
DSC spoke to Claudio, who denied that there are any plans for Iron Lynx to switch to Ferrari. The Italian made it clear that Lamborghini is still very much part of the team’s plan in the FIA WEC.
In the ELMS Championship-winning Lamborghini, Sunday and Monday saw 2024 WRT BMW driver Darren Leung sample the championship-winning car.
Again, Darren was entirely non-committal about his plans to race the car, making it clear that he was enjoying the opportunity to try something different (as he is doing again this weekend at the FIA Motorsport Games, racing an AF Corse-run Ferrari). No decision has yet been made on his 2025 programme.
Kessel Racing tested with ex-Michelin Le Mans Cup racer John Schauerman on Sunday, the affable American accompanied and supported by his ex-United Autosports driving partner Wayne Boyd for the test (plus a follow-up with United aboard an ORECA 07 on Monday).
Racing Spirit of Leman ran with three Silver-ranked drivers on Sunday as the team closes in on the potential addition of an FIA WEC LMGT3 programme. The Swiss squad is looking set to replace D’Station Racing alongside Heart of Racing in the 2025 WEC LMGT3 line-up.
Monday saw the team also testing 2024 Le Mans Cup Bronze Frederic Jousset, indicating that there may be either more than one option for a 2025 programme, or plans to add a second Aston Martin for either the ELMS or Le Mans Cup to any WEC aspirations.
DSC will cover the Iron Dames in a separate story very soon.
LMP3
No fewer than 13 LMP3 cars ran on Sunday alone at the test, with several new names to the ELMS package. A number of those were drivers stepping up from the Ligier European Series to get their first taste – publically at least – of LMP3 machinery.
The list of names included Jeronimo Berrio, Iko Segret, Max Mayer, Pedro Moreno and Cindy Gudet.
RLR MSport multiple race winner Ian Aguilera ran with Eurointernational and 2024 JS P4 title-winning British duo, – Haydn Chance and Theo Micouris, both tested with Team Virage.
DSC will publish a story covering the 2025-spec cars testing at Portimão very soon!
