Kakunoshin Ohta To Test Acura ARX-06 At Daytona

Japanese Honda factory driver will participate in IMSA Sanctioned Test

Honda Racing works driver Kakunoshin Ohta will test the Acura ARX-06 prototype in the upcoming IMSA Sanctioned Test at Daytona International Speedway on 15-16 November.

Ohta tested in the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) US simulator in Indianapolis, and also drove an LMP2 car in preparation for his GTP testing debut – where he will drive one of two Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06es.

It will also be the first time that any current Honda factory driver from Japan has tested the ARX-06.

Ohta, 25, is in his second year of racing in both the Autobacs SUPER GT Series GT500 Class and the Japanese Super Formula Championship. Ohta has two career GT500 podiums in 14 starts to date, driving the Honda NSX-GT and Civic Type R-GT. He also has two podiums in the GT300 class driving the Honda NSX GT3 for Team UpGarage.

In Super Formula, Ohta has one win, in the final race of his rookie season – the second race of the JAF Suzuka Grand Prix double header. His win is one of two career podiums in 16 races to date.

In addition, Ohta was the 2022 Super Formula Lights Championship runner-up, and the 2022 Super Taikyu Series ST-Z (GT4) Champion. He is just days removed from winning the most recent Super Taikyu round at Okayama International Circuit, driving a Craft-Bamboo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
