Barnicoat Joins Akkodis ASP For 2025 FIA WEC

Ben Barnicoat has been confirmed as one of the two full Pro drivers for the 2025 FIA WEC with Akkodis ASP and their Lexus RC F GT3 LMGT3 effort.

Barnicoat replaces Kelvin van der Linde in the #78 Lexus with Jose Maria Lopez continuing in the sister #87 Lexus.

The 27 year old British driver has scored seven IMSA class wins in GTD Pro and GTD since 2022 in the Vasser Sullivan-run Lexus programme, including the 2022 GTD Pro title.

That same year Barnicoat completed a full season in the FIA WEC in a Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR in GTE Am, his last appearance outside of Le Mans in the WEC.

He will return to Le Mans in 2025 as the reigning LMP2 Pro Am winner after taking victory alongside François Perrodo and Nico Varrone in June.

No decision has yet been announced about Barnicoat’s priority programme for the two clashing events in 2025, The WEC round at Spa clashing with the IMSA race at Laguna Seca and the Interlagos race for the World Championship clashing with IMSA’s Canadian Tire Motorsport Park event.
