Team KRC will contest GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS in 2025 after the championship’s full-season entry process opened late last week.
The Chinese team became the first to formally register for Season 7, which kicks off at Sepang on April 11-13.
It ran a BMW M4 GT3 throughout 2024 and is returning with an updated Evo spec model driven once again by Ruan Cun Fan. He scored a best result of fifth overall during a debut season in which he partnered Jono Lester and Maxime Oosten.
Ruan’s 2025 pro co-driver will be confirmed at a later date.
The news follows KRC’s recent FIA GT World Cup exploits in Macau where its entry, driven by BMW factory ace Augusto Farfus, finished second overall.
“After an unforgettable week in Macau it’s nice to also announce our plans for next year,” said KRC’s director, Mars Kang. “Our GT World Challenge Asia season did not hit the same heights but the team and Ruan made significant progress throughout the campaign and we were unlucky not to score a bigger result on a few occasions. Being the only BMW entrant also proved tricky at times, but we now have data that will allow us to hit the ground running at Sepang next year.”
GT World Challenge Asia makes its debut at Mandalika in Indonesia before staging a first-ever street circuit event in Beijing. Japan Cup, meanwhile, will have separate events at Sugo and Suzuka – the latter as support to the 1000km and Intercontinental GT Challenge in mid-September.
Japan Cup Entries Open
Entries are now being accepted for the 2025 Japan Cup.
Early interest indicates a 20+ multi-class grid of GT3, GT4 and GTC cars will tackle the championship’s second standalone season, which begins at Sportsland SUGO on June 13-15. Two SRO GT PowerTour events, held jointly with GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS, then follow at Fuji and Okayama before Japan Cup supports Intercontinental GT Challenge at the Suzuka 1000km.
Provision has been made for Japan Cup GT3 entries to also contest the 1000km on the same weekend should they wish, although this is not a round of the regular championship.
