(Just!) in time for Thanksgiving weekend in the USA, or a relaxed car journey of weekend’s listening elsewhere our pals at Dinner With Racers, Ryan Eversley and Sean Heckman have dropped the latest batch of their long-form podcasts digging deep into a range of motorsport notables.
This batch is particularly sportscar-heavy with several interviewees that will be very familiar to DSC readers.
Ep.266 – Oliver Gavin

Oliver Gavin – “Sportscar Racing Legend” 14 times loser at Petit Le Mans* plus multiple (6) successes at Sebring, 5 at Le Mans and a win at the Rolex 24 plus three ALMS Championship wins and an IMSA Championship too**.
The boys take us all the way back to the start, single seaters, an ill-starred first shot at F1, and on, via ITC with Opel, into sportscars coupled with F1 Safety Car and F1 testing duties.
All joking aside it’s been an astonishing career and Olly tells the stories behind it very well indeed!
*plus 5 lucky wins
** honestly nobody likes a smart arse
Ep.265 – Renger van der Zande

Renger van der Zande has become a staple of North American road racing, wins at Daytona and Petit Le Mans plus an IMSA Championship in the now long gone PC class, he’s featured in DPi and now GTP as a factory flier for Cadillac but will switch to Acura for 2025 – His tales of struggle and redemption are great to hear, and the background top his ‘other’ career is a big part of the story too
Ep.264 – Laurens Vanthoor

Porsche factory driver, FIA WEC World Champion (though that came after this episode was recorded), rapid in prototypes and GT cars and one half of the WEC’s fraternal podcasting duo, Laurens Vanthoor is set to write hos name into the sportscar racing history books through achievement and the way he has got there.
Caution – contains stories of inverted win at Macau.
Ep.262 – Mike Rockenfeller, Pt.1
Ep.263 – Mike Rockenfeller, Pt.2

Mike Rockenfeller has quietly risen to become one of the most celebrated racers in all of sportscar racing. Growing up in rural Germany with limited means, Mike was the quintessential successful junior racer with limited means, eventually finding his way onto the Porsche factory driver roster, then Audi, and now Ford. Mike has literally won pretty much everything there is to win in sportscars, from Le Mans, to Daytona and a DTM championship.

Outside of the car, he was also a core element to the growth of Wayne Taylor Racing, notably acting as a mentor to Ricky and Jordan Taylor and is now a key part of Dallara’s presence in the paddocks of the world.
Ep.260 – Juan Fangio II
A staple of 1980s and 1990s sportscar racing, Juan Fangio II is one of the greats of IMSA GTP racing. The nephew of Juan Manuel Fangio, one of Formula One’s greatest, Fangio II embarked on a career unique to himself, and carving a path that you’d never expect given his namesake.
