Lucas Auer Confirmed As Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver For 2025

Lucas Auer has been added to the 2025 roster of Mercedes AMG Performance Drivers, in time for the Austrian’s appearance at the Rolex 24 next weekend with 2024 GTD Championship winner Winward Racing.

Mercedes AMG Customer Racing made it clear before Christmas, when a roster of 10 factory drivers was announced, that there were more names to be added in due course. And DSC understands that the total may extend further before the European season gets underway in the spring.

Auer meanwhile extends his long-time association with Mercedes AMG which dates back to his days in F3 with Mercedes power before being drafted into DTM service in 2015.

Since then, DTM in Class One and GT3 campaigns around the world have formed the core of his programmes which have produced race wins in DTM (below in 2022), GT World Challenge, ADAC GT Masters and GT Open for the marque.

“I’m delighted to keep the relationship going, they have been excellent supporters of my career,” Auer told DSC. “For 2025 my programme is still to be finalised, but the progress that we are all making together means that maintaining that momentum has to be the first priority.

“I’m delighted to be starting the season at this race and with Winward who had an amazing season in IMSA and in Europe in 2024.

“It all just shows when the people in the background have their heart in the right place, and they love motorsport, then these amazing results are actually possible.

“It’s a dream story, everybody is super proud to be part of this team and I couldn’t be happier with this as my opening programme in 2025.”
