Racers Edge Motorsports has announced that Jason Bell and Michael Cooper will drive the team’s new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo in the upcoming GT World Challenge America season.
It’s a partnership that Jon Murachi’s Deland, Florida-based team hopes will add to an outstanding pedigree in recent years, when Racers Edge took three GT World Challenge America championships in four years with their previous Acura NSX GT3.
Bell will step up to GT World Challenge America after winning two GT America GT4 class titles in 2021 and 2023, and finishing runner-up in the category in 2022. The Tampa, Florida native began racing the new Vantage GT3 last year in GT America, driving for Flying Lizard Motorsports.
“I’m excited to announce my move to Racers Edge Motorsports for the 2025 season, where we will be competing in the full GT World Challenge America season in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo,” said Bell, who will also run the GT America races at the Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend.
“My journey with Racers Edge began back in 2017, where I won my first race at VIR with this incredible team. After seven successful years in GT4, including two championships with Aston Martin Racing, it’s time to take the next step and compete in the big show.
“I had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo in GT America in 2024, which was an invaluable learning experience,” Bell explained. “I’ve had the chance to understand the car, and now, as a team, we’re fired up and ready to compete at the highest level.
“I couldn’t ask for a better co-driver than Michael Cooper, and with the support of our fantastic partners, we’re ready to make a serious run at the Pro-Am Championship. With the experience, skill, and dedication this team brings, I’m confident we’ll be up to speed and fighting for wins.”
Cooper returns to GT World Challenge America full-time for the first time since 2022, when he drove for RealTime Racing. Cooper is just weeks removed from winning the opening round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Daytona International Speedway, and also took LMP3 honours in the 2022 Rolex 24 At Daytona.
His prior accomplishments in SRO America competition include a Pirelli World Challenge GTS title in 2015, the SprintX Championship GT3 Pro title in 2017, and the GT4 America Pro Sprint Cup in 2020.
“I’m really excited to get back into GT World Challenge America with Jason Bell and Racers Edge Motorsports,” said Cooper, Bell’s driving coach and occasional co-driver in GT4 America. “In 2023 when Jason and I ran as a partial season pairing in GT4 America, we were super competitive [winning at Circuit of The Americas]. Jason made the jump to GT3 last year, got his feet wet, and now we are diving head-first into the big races in SRO America.
“Racers Edge Motorsports runs a first-class organization. Having competed against the team on many occasions in both GT3 and GT4, I’m very much looking forward to being in their paddock this year.”
