Fuji Motorsports Forest has publicly announced the format for next month’s SUPER GT Fuji GT Sprint Race, taking place on 2/3 August at Fuji Speedway.
There will be three races across two days, with a single-driver format, no routine pit stops, and no Success Weight. On Saturday, there will be a 35-lap/160-kilometre sprint featuring both GT500 and GT300 classes, starting at 15:10 JST (local time).
And on Sunday, for the first time in a SUPER GT/JGTC championship round, both classes will have separate 50-minute timed sprints. A similar format was used in the non-championship Fuji Sprint Cup races held from 2010 to 2013. The GT300 sprint starts at 14:20 JST, followed by the GT500 sprint at 17:10 JST.
Each day will begin with a one-hour practice session starting at 8:30 JST, with a condensed qualifying at midday – consisting of a single 20-minute session in GT300 followed immediately by a ten-minute GT500 session.
Pending an official announcement from the GTA, each race is expected to be worth “half-points”, paying 10 points to the winner instead of the standard 20.
