Genesis Magma Racing factory driver Pipo Derani will take no further part in the 2025 European Le Mans Series season with CLX Motorsport. The Brazilian will instead shift his focus to the build-up to Genesis’ FIA WEC Hypercar debut with the GMR-001 in 2026.
“We’d like to thank Pipo Derani for his dedication and performance during the first part of our ELMS season,” CLX Motorsport said in a statement today. “He will not be finishing the championship with us, as he shifts his full focus to his role as a factory driver for Genesis Magma Racing and their WEC programme.”
So far this season, Derani had been sharing the team’s #47 ORECA 07 with Enzo Fittipaldi and Manuel Espirito Santo. The trio’s best finish was third place at Le Castellet back in May.
Pipo later commented on social media: “Due to a high amount of clashes between the rest of ELMS season and the development of the GMR-001, I decided to give my 100% focus to my Genesis Magma Racing program. Wishing the best of luck to CLX on the rest of the ELMS season. Go get it!!!”
There is no word yet from CLX on who will replace Derani for the remainder of the season. The next event is the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on August 24th.
