GT3 Marketplace Booming As Historic Race Series Gather Pace

With the scope, scale and level of GT3-eligible series worldwide continuing to expand, there seems to be no end in sight for what has become the most successful Grand Touring class in the sport’s history.

Add in now, as GT3 approaches its 20th anniversary, a relatively new marketplace, historic racing, and there’s little surprise that some long-dormant oddballs are now coming back to the marketplace too (who doesn’t love to see something a little off-beam on-track!).

So, with the MRL GT3 Legends on track at Silverstone last weekend, and news this week of the details of the new-for-2026 SRO/ Peter Auto GT3 Revival, we thought we’d take a look at what’s out there on the market – and, referring to market-leading motorsport sales portal Racecars Direct, we found a HUGE variety – no fewer than 18 different marques, and 34 different GT3 models, many of which have several examples currently on the market!

It’s worth saying too that this relatively new addition to the historic racing environment is also having a positive effect on contemporary racing, teams with otherwise obsolete cars now have assets with more market value – a potential very welcome boost for some in difficult trading times.

So, whether you are a ‘window shopper’ like us, whether you want to join the legions of internet posters with a call along the lines of ‘if we all put £100 in we could…” or whether you are a serious buyer, there’s never been a better time to take a look!
