AF Corse Ferrari Duo Take Sunday Win

Topsy turvy weekend sees title go down to the wire

Race 2

The 2025 International GT Open will go to the last race in Monza with a perfect script: a final three-way battle for the title, with the three contenders covered by only 11 points.

Tommaso Mosca and Carl Bennett took a resounding third win in Race 2 at Barcelona. Executing a perfect race, the duo of the AF Corse Ferrari reduced their gap to Levente Révész (Motopark Mercedes) in the lead of the Championship to just 11 points and to just 6 with respect to the Eastalent Audi of Simon Reicher-Christopher Haase.

The two top protagonists in the standings finished only eighth and seventh, respectively, today.

Greystone GT placed its two Maclarens on the podium, with James Kell-Dean Macdonald second and Josh Rattican-Jayden Kelly third.

Winning today, Steve Jans and Aaron Walker (GetSpeed Mercedes) have retaken the Pro-Am standings lead by just one point over Valentin Pierburg-Dominik Baumann (SPS Mercedes), today second in an all-Mercedes podium completed by the 2Seas Motorsport car of Charles Dawson-McKenzy Cresswell.

In Am, Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo, in the AF Corse Ferrari, took their eighth 2025 win but are only 4 points ahead of Mark Sansom (Garage 59 McLaren), who today finished third with Charlie Hollings behind yesterday’s winners, Antal Zsigo and Dennis Waszek, in the Racing Trevor BMW.

The track was dry after the heavy rain of the morning for the start of Race 2, with Christopher Haase (Eastalent Audi) on pole. The start, though, was delayed as the Vimana Mercedes of Naran stalled on the grid ahead of the formation lap, and two laps were needed to remove it.

At the start, Haase kept the advantage, but only for two laps as he was passed by Mosca, who took the lead. Buuran was third ahead of Aron, Revesz, Emson, Macdonald, Cairoli, and Cresswell.

On lap 8, the safety car was on track again after Salaquarda rammed Paverud, with the Saintéloc Audi remaining stuck over a kerb. The neutralization lasted for 6 laps, and when the proceedings restarted, Mosca kept control ahead of Haase, Buurman, Emson, Aron, Rvesz, and Basz.

The pit stop window (delayed) opened on lap 15, and when all driver changes had been completed, Bennett was first and extending his lead on Kell, Rattican, Lebbon, Porter, Walker, Reicher, Götz, Schiller, and Petrov. Rugolo was first in Am ahead of Waszek and Hollings.

There wouldn’t be many changes in the few final laps, but there was some contact between the two Greystone McLarens, luckily with no further drama!
