Greystone GT To Make GT World Challenge Europe Debut At Barcelona Finale

Greystone GT has announced it will make its GT World Challenge Europe debut at next month’s Endurance Cup season finale at Barcelona.

The British outfit will field a single McLaren GT3 Evo for series debutants Jayden Kelly, Zac Meakin and Michael O’Brien, in the Silver Cup class.

Kelly and former McLaren factory driver O’Brien are currently co-drivers in the McLaren Trophy Europe for Greystone, and have won the ‘Pro’ class in four of the eight races held so far this year.

18-year-old Kelly has also made the step up to GT3 racing mid-season with the team, driving alongside Josh Rattican in the previous two GT Open rounds. The pair have made a strong start, already scoring two podium finishes. It is their GT Open chassis which the team will use in Barcelona.

Meakin is new to Greystone GT, but the Briton is no stranger to the McLaren GT3 Evo. The 18-year-old has raced the car for Optimum Motorsport in GT Open this season, scoring three podium finishes alongside Michael Porter.

For O’Brien, Barcelona will be a return to GT3 competition for the first time in almost two years. The Briton has contested over 40 races in GT3 McLarens, across the Asian Le Mans Series, British GT and GT Cup.

This effort has come about after Greystone received multiple expressions of interest from Silver-graded drivers about racing in GT World Challenge Europe, with the team harbouring ambitions of becoming a regular fixture in the series in the future.

“When we formed the team [in 2021], we set the goal of racing in GT World Challenge within five years and it is important to us that we have honoured that commitment, even if it seemed ambitious at the time,” founder Mark McLoughlin said.

“This is just one of many milestones we have set and now we look forward to sharing the grid with the toughest GT competition in the world. What makes this step particularly satisfying is that two of our drivers — Michael and Jayden — have come through Greystone GT’s own programmes.

“It underlines our commitment to supporting the development of our team drivers and proves that if a driver starts with us in the junior categories of GT racing then they have a genuine chance of progressing into top-flight GT3 competition. That’s a big part of what makes our team attractive to drivers at every stage of their careers.”

The 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be held 10th-12th October, with the full entry list expected to be revealed this week.
