2018 Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power will make his GT3 racing debut later this month, driving 75 Express’ Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in the Intercontinental GT Challenge finale, the Indianapolis 8 Hour.
Power will share the car with fellow Australians Chaz Mostert and Kenny Habul, with the team moving up from Pro-Am and into the Pro class.
This means Mercedes-AMG will have four Pro class runners in the final 25-car field unveiled earlier today.
75 Express, notably, is the same team Power was set to race the 24 Hours of Daytona with in 2023 before having to withdraw due to personal circumstances.
The 44-year-old is no stranger to success on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, having claimed a record five IndyCar victories at the track, and finished on the podium in over half of his IndyCar starts.
Bathurst 12 Hour regular Mostert is another Indianapolis 8 Hour debutant, although the Supercars Championship ace has raced on the IMS Road Course before. Mostert was part of 75 Express’ line-up for last year’s IMSA ‘Battle on the Bricks’ six-hour event.
75 Express’ primary objective at Indianapolis will be to win the IGTC Independent Cup, with victory in this competition also guaranteeing Habul the Independent Cup title. Habul currently sits six points behind Porsche drivers Ralf Bohn and Antares Au, in his quest for a fourth IGTC class title.
Power is not the first IndyCar champion to enter the Indy 8 Hour. Last year, four-time champion Alex Palou finished 13th overall in a Lone Star Racing AMG GT3 Evo.
The 2025 Indianapolis 8 Hour, the final round of the GT World Challenge America and Intercontinental GT Challenge seasons, will take place from 16th to 18th October 2025.
