Ginetta To Enter SRO GT America With GTP8

British constructor expands its North American efforts by launching a new one-make series within SRO America's sprint championship

Ginetta has announced a presence in the 2026 GT America powered by AWS series, where, beginning next season, the British constructor will run a dedicated one-make series for its V8-powered G56 GTP8 race car within the GT America championship.

The GTP8 is currently being exhibited at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, near the Pagoda building, ahead of this weekend’s GT America finale – supporting the Intercontinental GT Challenge Indianapolis 8 Hour Presented by AWS.

Ginetta’s move into GT America is the latest expansion of the brand’s North American efforts, following the success of the Ginetta Challenge North America series, which launched in 2024 as part of the SVRA SpeedTour.

“Bringing our V8 to the United States marks an exciting new chapter for Ginetta,” said Mike Simpson, Chief Executive of Ginetta Motorsport.” SRO GT America is the perfect stage to showcase this car, which blends raw performance and accessibility with proven engineering. We’re proud to expand our footprint further into the world’s most dynamic motorsport market and offer American drivers and teams a genuine pathway into top-level GT spec racing.”

The GTP8’s launch promises to offer fresh opportunities for existing Ginetta customers as well as new teams looking to advance their GT racing aspirations.

Simultaneously, it will also provide the GT America championship, the multi-class sprint series for Bronze drivers, an injection of much-needed participation after a season with low participation at several events throughout the season – a problem that SRO Motorsports America President Greg Gill has been keen to address.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Ginetta and the GTP8 to the SRO America paddock,” Gill said. “It underscores the continued growth and diversity of our GT America series, and their arrival marks an exciting step forward in broadening the opportunities available to North American drivers and teams within our GT platform. Ginetta’s commitment to delivering accessible, competitive racing aligns perfectly with SRO’s own mission, and the GTP8 brings a fresh new dimension to the grid and provides an exciting, attainable path for both aspiring and experienced competitors.

“We look forward to seeing them join our paddock and to watching this program thrive on American soil.”

Ginetta launched its North American headquarters in South Boston, Virginia, in 2021 – in partnership with TMI Autotech. Dexter Racing had run Ginetta GT4 cars in the SRO America paddock as recently as 2022. The Ginetta Challenge series expands on the marque’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-performance motorsport to develop future generations of aspiring drivers and teams.

Ginetta alumni, including Lando Norris, Jamie Chadwick, and Isack Hadjar, are among those who’ve gone on to race in the Formula 1 World Championship, Formula 2, IndyCar, the FIA World Endurance Championship, and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
