As part of its sustainability drive, Falken Motorsports has deployed sensorless tyre monitoring technology throughout its 2025 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie campaign.
Falken Motorsports dominated the 2025 NLS, winning five of the nine races it contested and finishing 1-2 in the NLS Speed Trophy with its pair of Porsche 911 GT3 Rs (992). Both Porsches utilised Sensing Core through the season, a technology developed by Falken’s parent company, Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd.
Sensing Core uses the tyre itself, as opposed to additional hardware, to monitor tyre-wear, road surface, wheel load and pressure in real-time. It’s a development of Sumitomo’s Deflation Warning System, which is already in effect on road cars globally, and can also detect loose wheel nuts.
For Falken Motorsports, Sensing Core repeatedly offered warnings ahead of traditional sensors, giving the team a strategic advantage throughout the 2025 season and proving the potential of the technology in a racing environment.
