Porsche has revealed the format for the second edition of the Porsche Carrera World Cup, which will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain, next March.
15 years on from the inaugural edition, held on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the German manufacturer will bring together competitors from its Supercup, national and regional series once again next year. The World Cup will run from 5th to 8th March, and feature 15 races, with up to 100 entrants expected.
The event will also act as a farewell for the current 992.1-generation 911 GT3 Cup car, which has been in service since 2020. Its successor, based on the 992.2, is making its debut in the Supercup and select Carrera Cups in 2026.
Competitors will be divided into three classes: ‘Pro’ for Gold or Silver-ranked drivers; ‘Pro-Am’ for younger Bronze rated drivers, and the ‘Michelin Class’ for Bronze-ranked runners over 45 years old.
A knockout format will then be utilised, with drivers being split into four groups of up to 30 drivers. After three heat races per group, each lasting 30 minutes plus one lap, the top 50% per class per group will advance to the semi-finals.
The top half per class in each semi-final will then progress to the 30-car, winner takes all final, where René Rast’s successor as World Cup winner will be crowned.

“The 911 GT3 Cup has been among the most widely produced race cars since the early 1990s, and we want to celebrate that before the newest generation takes over. In Barcelona, up to 100 competitors will go head-to-head for a unique trophy that was last awarded in 2011. Back then, almost 100 Cup 911 cars competed on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. I’m now looking forward to an extraordinary Porsche festival in Barcelona.”
