Felbermayr Family Colours For Asian LMS LMP2 Effort

The famous blue of the Felbermayr family will adorn an LMP2 car for the first time during this winter’s Asian Le Mans Series.

Horst Felbermayr Jr. and his son Horst Felix Felbermayr will both make their series debut at next month’s season opener in Sepang, sharing the #88 Proton Competition ORECA 07 – Gibson with Lorenzo Fluxa, with the German team confirming the car will run in Felbermayr’s traditional colours.

For fans of GT2 Porsches in the 2000s, the concept of the #88 Felbermayr Proton entry is a familiar one.

Horst Felbermayr Sr. became a partner in Christian Ried’s organisation ahead of the 2006 season, and over the next seven years, Felbermayr-Proton would go on to win the LMGT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, back-to-back Le Mans Series LMGT2 titles, the inaugural Intercontinental Le Mans Cup LMGT2 teams’ title and multiple FIA WEC races.

The Felbermayr family stepped away from full-time racing at the end of the 2011 season, although following the passing of Felbermayr Sr. in 2020, and the development of third-generation racer Horst Felix, the Austrian family has reappeared on sportscar grids in recent years, primarily in LMP3 machinery.

Felbermayr Jr. and Felix Felbermayr shared a Reiter Engineering Ligier JS P325-Toyota in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this year, and also competed in the final two rounds of the European Le Mans Series aboard Proton Competition’s Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) LMGT3.

The 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series begins at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, from 12th to 14th December 2025.
