ADAC GT4 Germany frontrunner SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm has announced a significant change of focus ahead of the 2026 season, with a move into SRO competition planned for next year.
As recently as last month, the team’s intention was to return to ADAC GT Masters for a second full season, fielding up to two Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVOs, alongside the continuation of its successful ADAC GT4 Germany programme.
The Allgäu-based outfit won four different classifications in ADAC GT4 Germany this term, as Enrico Förderer and Jay Mo Härtling triumphed in the Drivers’, Junior and ‘Road to DTM’ competitions, with the latter offering financial support towards a step up to ADAC GT Masters. The team also won the Rookie contest courtesy of Cedric Fuchs.
Dissatisfaction with the current ‘Road to DTM’ ladder, however, has caused the Thomas Angerer-led team to pivot away from its national series, with the plan now to enter both GT World Challenge Europe and the GT4 European Series.
“Unfortunately, despite all our successes and titles in Germany in recent years, we have not been able to make the leap into professional motorsport,” Angerer said.
“Even Enrico Förderer, despite maximum sporting success and great financial support, has not managed to join Motorsport Team Germany. This means that the “Road to DTM” concept is not working for us. When drivers between the ages of 16 and 18 finish all championships with titles and victories and still fail to make the step up despite maximum discipline and enormous personal commitment, our only option is to try our luck on the international stage.
“I hope and wish that one of our young drivers will make the leap into a professional league, and I will do everything I can to pave the way for these young wild ones. If there are any supporters for young German talent in the international arena, they are welcome to contact me. We are now going to break new ground!”
Further details about SR Racing by Schnitzelalm’s 2026 programme will be announced in the coming weeks, including the scale of its commitment to both championships.
GT World Challenge Europe and the GT4 European Series will begin their 2026 seasons at Circuit Paul Ricard, France, from 10th to 12th April 2026.
