Reigning ADAC GT Masters Drivers’ champion Finn Wiebelhaus will step up to the DTM this season, with HRT Ford Racing.
19-year-old Wiebelhaus, who is a Ford Racing Driver Development Team member, will form part of HRT Ford Racing’s two-car effort this year alongside Ford Racing factory driver Arjun Maini.
The pairing will compete in the new Ford Mustang GT3 Evo, for HRT’s second season in the DTM with Ford Racing.
Wiebelhaus, who also topped the ADAC GT Masters’ ‘Road to DTM’ competition last season, is the first driver eligible for the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award to be announced for this year’s DTM. The German first joined Haupt Racing Team in 2024, and competed in a dual campaign across ADAC GT Masters and the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with the team last season.
“Racing in the DTM has been my dream since childhood, and seeing it become a reality means more than I can express. I’m incredibly grateful for the trust and opportunity that HRT and Ford Racing are giving me,” Wiebelhaus said.
“After winning the ADAC GT Masters and the Road to DTM classification last year, advancing to the DTM feels like a reward for years of hard work, sacrifice, and belief. I’m ready to give it my all, fight for strong results, and make this season one to remember.”
Maini has raced for Haupt Racing Team in the DTM since 2022, finishing on the podium on three occasions and finishing seventh in the drivers’ championship in 2024. Last season, headline results were limited as HRT got up to speed with the Mustang GT3, but the 28-year-old still earned a pair of top-five finishes.
“I am thrilled and honoured to be competing in the DTM with HRT Ford Racing for another year — my second as an official Ford Racing Driver,” Maini commented.
“Last season was a valuable learning experience, and we demonstrated our ability to improve throughout the year. I am therefore even more motivated to tackle the new DTM season, especially with the new EVO package for the Ford Mustang GT3. Our goal is to rack up a few victories and podium finishes this year. I am really looking forward to the start of the season.”
Maini will again compete in the blue and yellow of Ravenol in 2026, whilst Wiebelhaus’ #64 Mustang GT3 Evo features ‘Snaffi the Snail’ on the side, thanks to backing from Kolibri360.
Fabio Scherer has departed HRT Ford Racing’s DTM roster to make room for Wiebelhaus, with the German confirming on social media that “new challenges are on the horizon, and I’m in exciting talks with Ford and HRT,” for 2026.
The 2026 DTM begins on the weekend of 24th to 26th April 2026, at the Red Bull Ring, Austria.
