SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm will make its GT2 European Series debut this season, with a pair of Mercedes-AMG GT2s.
Both cars will compete in Pro-Am, with David Thilenius and Wilhelm Kühne named as the Bronze-rated drivers for the two entries.
Thilenius has raced with Schnitzelalm since 2022, primarily on the Nordschleife, whilst 2025 GT4 Winter Series drivers’ champion Kühne first joined the team last season. Both drivers are rookies in the GT2 European Series.
Although new to the GT2 European Series, Schnitzelalm has competed with an AMG GT2 before. The team fielded the car at the 2023 Nürburgring 24 Hours, and more recently won its class at the GT Winter Series’ 6 Hours of Portimão earlier this year.
Mercedes-AMG is one of the registered manufacturers for the SRO GT Academy, meaning that if the team’s unannounced Silver-graded drivers are under 30, they will be eligible to compete for a fully-funded seat in the 2027 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
“I think the GT2 European Series is a great racing series for our gentleman drivers, and is somewhere they can really enjoy themselves,” said team head Thomas Angerer.
“At the same time, I think it’s a superb opportunity for our talented young Silver drivers to gain visibility through the SRO GT Academy and the GT World Challenge cockpit, which is up for grabs. I believe that this gives Silver drivers a good opportunity to showcase their talents and that it’s a better way to start than jumping straight into a GT3 car.”
The 2026 GT2 European Series will begin at Monza, Italy, on 29th to 31st May 2026.
