Ford Racing has announced today the acquisition of drivers Matt Campbell, Tom Blomqvist, and Nick Yelloly for the American manufacturer’s upcoming Hypercar debut in the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The addition of Campbell, Blomqvist, and Yelloly completes Ford’s inaugural roster of drivers for the 2027 season, as they join Logan Sargeant, Sebastian Priaulx, and Mike Rockenfeller who were the first three drivers confirmed to the programme.
Campbell joins Ford Racing after a distinguished ten-year affiliation with Porsche which saw him rise from Porsche Junior to Porsche Works factory driver. Highlights of his tenure at Porsche include a class win at the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans, overall victory in the 2024 24 Hours of Daytona, two overall victories in the Bathurst 12 Hour held in his native Australia, and two IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles including the 2025 IMSA GTP crown.
“I’m extremely excited and proud to be joining Ford Racing for their new Hypercar programme,” said Campbell, who will be entrusted to play a key role in the development of Ford’s to-be-revealed Hypercar.
“Ford has a longstanding history of success in top levels of motorsport and at Le Mans, which is something I am also chasing, and I believe Ford is the right place to achieve that goal together. We have a lot of laps to turn later this year, but the work has already started and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
Both Blomqvist and Yelloly join Ford from the factory Acura Meyer Shank Racing team in IMSA, which will conclude at the end of the 2026 IMSA season. Both drivers have familiarity with ORECA, who will supply the chassis used by Ford’s new prototype.
Blomqvist brings his background in single-seaters, GT cars, and prototypes to Ford Racing; The Anglo-Swedish driver won the 2018 24 Hours of Spa as a BMW Motorsport works driver, then won back-to-back 24 Hours of Daytona and the 2022 IMSA premier class championship driving for Acura and Meyer Shank Racing.
His father, 1984 World Rally Champion Stig Blomqvist, also drove for Ford’s factory World Rally team during his career, aboard the RS200, Sierra RS Cosworth, and Escort RS Cosworth.
“Joining Ford Racing at the start of such an ambitious programme is an incredibly exciting opportunity,” said Blomqvist. “To be part of the project from the outset, help shape its development and work towards the shared goal of bringing Ford back to the top step of the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is very special. Ford’s heritage in endurance racing speaks for itself, and I’m proud to represent the brand as we begin this exciting new chapter together.”
Finally, Yelloly adds more technical depth and talent to the programme, along with his own exceptional racing CV. The Englishman is the reigning LMP2 class winner at Le Mans, and won both the 2020 24 Hours of Nürburgring and 2023 24 Hours of Spa for BMW. After six years with BMW, Yelloly joined Acura in 2025 to help head up a new second Meyer Shank Racing team, featuring engineering support provided by Honda Racing Corporation USA.
“I am super excited to be joining Ford Racing for its Hypercar programme,” Yelloly said. “Being part of the lineup who are bringing back the legendary Blue Oval to Le Mans is a big honor and I am very grateful for the opportunity. I’m itching to get going with the whole team and can’t wait to get this show on the road!”
Ford Racing also confirmed that it will begin testing its new 5.4-litre V8-powered Hypercar this August at various European circuits, with a focus on performance, reliability, and system validation.
The manufacturer will present the name and design of its car, as well as its final driver combinations for the 2027 WEC season, at a later date.

With the additions of Matt, Nick and Tom alongside Logan, Rocky and Seb, we have finalized a driver lineup capable of winning races.
“We aren’t just returning to Le Mans to participate – we are returning to fight for overall victory, and this complete roster gives us the perfect foundation to achieve that goal.”
Dan Sayers, Programme Manager of the Ford Racing WEC Hypercar Programme, also gave his thoughts, saying, “The development phase with our 5.4L V8 is already showing great promise on the dyno in Dearborn, where we’ve been pushing the limits of its performance and durability. Having Matt, Nick and Tom onboard early is a massive boost.
“Their combined feedback in the simulator and during our upcoming testing phases across Europe will be vital as we transition from the virtual world to the track. They all have a proven track record of extracting performance from brand-new platforms and providing the precise technical feedback needed to refine our in-house developed control systems.”
