Orange Racing by JMH has taken over the former Mahiki Racing #69 McLaren GT3 Evo for the remainder of the 2026 British GT season, with Paddock Motorsport now set to run the #84 McLaren Artura in its return to the GT4 category.
Steven Lake will continue his maiden GT3 season in the #69 McLaren at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend with his new teammate and reigning GT3 Silver-Am champion, Tom Wood, replacing Josh Rowledge.
Jason Hughes, team manager at Orange Racing by JMH, detailed how the arrangement was established ahead of this weekend’s 120-minute race in Belgium.
“When they decided to close down Mahiki, Steve Lake called me to ask if it was possible for us to run their McLaren GT3 for the rest of the British GT season, to which I said yes,” Hughes told DSC.
“We took the GT3 and the GT4 and prepped them both for Spa British GT (BGT).
“Once the GT4 was prepped, it was sent to Paddock Motorsport for them to run in BGT. We have assembled a new team to work on the GT3, all of whom we know and have used before and trust.
“We have made many changes to their car to match our existing car, so hopefully their racing will be more enjoyable now.
“As we are already running under the Orange Racing by JMH banner, it was a no-brainer to add the second car under the same banner.”
Hughes first met Lake at the 2024 NEC Autosport International Show, the same year Mahiki Racing was set up. The two parties then arranged a private test at Motorland Aragon in Spain, inviting Mahiki to share the cost.
Orange Racing by JMH now has one entry in GT3 Silver-Am, and another in Pro-Am with #67 McLaren teammates Marcus Clutton and Simon Orange third in the class standings.
Elsewhere, Paddock Motorsport has taken over Mahiki’s former #84 McLaren Artura GT4. It will continue to be driven by Revie Lake and Blake Angliss, who will join Paddock’s other #9 McLaren GT3 entry, shared by Plowman and Mark Smith.
“We were approached by Steve [Lake] to explore the possibility of taking over the operation of the Mahiki GT4 programme and, after careful consideration, we felt we had the resources and bandwidth to make it happen,” added Plowman.
“While the driver line-up and car remain unchanged, this is effectively an entirely new operation, with a new crew and support structure behind the programme.
“Getting everything ready in time for Spa has required a genuine around-the-clock effort, so a huge thank you to all of our full-time staff who have gone above and beyond over the last few weeks to make this possible. Their commitment, hard work and willingness to pull together at short notice have been nothing short of exceptional.
“We’re looking forward to getting to work and building on the strong foundations already in place.”
Last time out at Oulton Park, Mahiki Racing loaned an Artura GT4 from Paddock because their original blue-liveried car suffered accident damage in a test one week prior.
Steven Lake then raced one of Paddock’s McLaren Europe Trophy entries at Monza as part of the GT World Challenge Europe support package, where he claimed fourth and third Pro-Am results with his #7 McLaren Artura Trophy Evo teammate Maximilian Tarillion.
