British GT Moves 2027 Snetterton Opener To Avoid FIA WEC Clash

The date for the 2027 British GT Championship season opener has been shifted two weeks earlier to avoid a clash with the FIA World Endurance Championship’s long-awaited return to Silverstone.

Instead of the 2027 British GT season starting on 24-25 April, during which the FIA WEC’s 6 Hours of Silverstone event takes place, the Snetterton sprint race meeting is rescheduled for 10-11 April.

Unveiled at this year’s 24 Hours of Spa, SRO confirmed Snetterton as the host for the 2027 season opener for the first time in British GT history.

However, it was announced two weeks beforehand at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that the FIA WEC would return to the world-famous ‘Home of British Motorsport’ next year in their first visit since 2019.

Another modification to the 35th British GT season schedule is about the blue riband Silverstone 500 event.

British GT followed through with a request by Silverstone to have the 500-kilometre race one week prior on 7-8 August instead of the initial date of 14-15 August.

This three-hour enduro was moved to a summer date next year, having occupied a springtime slot earlier in the ongoing 2026 season.

Revised Provisional 2027 British GT Championship Calendar:

  • April 10-11: Snetterton 300, 2x 1-hour races
  • May 29 & 31: Oulton Park International, 2x 1-hour races
  • June 19-20: Spa Speedweek, 1x 2-hour race
  • August 7-8: Silverstone 500, 1x 3-hour
  • September 11-12: Brands Hatch GP, 1x 2-hour
  • October 16-17: Donington Park GP, 1x 2-hour
