Ford Announces Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational

Ford's one-make racing series heads to the legendary Belgian circuit in 2027, supporting the 24 Hours of Spa

The Ford Mustang Challenge is headed to Belgium in 2027, announcing today the Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational, which will mark a second appearance alongside another iconic endurance race after its inaugural invitational event at Le Mans last year.

The Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational was a success for the Ford Racing Sports Car Pyramid, featuring 36 entrants and showcasing the brand’s investment in building a clear ladder of advancement to support outstanding drivers.

Ford has set its sights on continuing to make the Mustang Challenge series into a global platform, and the 24 Hours of Spa is naturally a standout weekend for sports car racing worldwide.

In the 2026 season, Ford launched Mustang Cup Australia, its first one-make series outside of North America, which, just like Mustang Cup USA, serves as the starting point for the Ford pyramid layout.

“This entry-level series offers aspiring drivers a chance to start their racing journey in a system in which they can move up throughout their career,” said global customer racing manager Chris Ward. “For us, this series is a way to discover and connect with talents we may not otherwise know about. And for them to learn about the benefits of racing with the Blue Oval.

“We can’t wait to see the stampede Mustang Dark Horse R cars take on Eau Rouge and Raidillon.”

Entries in the 2027 Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational will include not only Mustang Challenge North America drivers and teams, but also talent from the Mustang Cup USA and Mustang Cup Australia paddocks, all on one track. This event will be an opportunity for Ford to blend international and U.S. one-make competition under the banner of America’s Race Team.
