Looking to close a widening points gap

The entry list for the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring showed a surprise change this morning with both Extreme Speed Motorsports Ligier Nissans listed with Michelin tyres after the team has run, to this point, consistently on Dunlop rubber since joining the FIA WEC.

The change is confirmed by the FIA WEC and by sources within the ESM team as the battle hots up to find an opportunity for the gap to be closed to the leading LMP2 runners thus far this season.

The change comes as Oak Racing, already responsible for the technical running of the ESM effort also take on full responsibility for the RGR effort, also with a Ligier Nissan, after the team split with Benoit Morand, but stayed with Dunlops, thus giving Oak access to data from both tyre manufacturers in the same way that Greaves Motorsport have access through the Dunlop-shod #41 Ligier and Michelin-shod #40 Krohn car in the ELMS.

More to come on this story in due course.
