The continuing uncertainty over TUSC’s Prototype regulations appears to have cost the new Championship at least one almost assured entry as Pecom Racing have made clear that they will not now be entering their LMP2 Oreca Nissan.
There are clear concerns amongst teams and potential drivers both at the lack of apparent balance of performance between the DP and P2 machinery at present, and a particular concern about the nature of the issues which befell DP cars at the Daytona test which has led directly to more than one driver, previously close to committing to a season in TUSC, pulling away from that position.
The accidents at the Daytona test, it seems, have had a real and direct effect on the driver market.
The potential GTD entry meanwhile appears to be booming, AF Corse the latest team to confirm a potential 2 car entry, though the potential entry numbers in that class at least are expanding beyond the notional season ceiling.
Jeff Segal meanwhile has been confirmed in one of Level 5’s GTD Ferraris whilst GMG Racing have also confirmed their intention to enter GTD with an Audi R8 LMS with team owner James Sofronas and long time team staple Alex Welch already confirmed on the driver roster for a team that already knows the Audi well with race winning form in the Pirelli World Challenge from a multi car entry.
