Marshall Pruett has been working as hard as ever for RACER.com and has a pair of meaty DPi stories this week concerning Acura and Chip Ganassi Racing.
The 2018 Acura ARX-05 HPDs completed their first shakedown with Team Penske last week in Paul Ricard – next to ORECA’s headquarters – with HPD president Art St Cyr explaining that the shakedown was ok, despite a few teething problems. Following the run, the cars were shipped stateside, to Penske’s base.
Pruett’s other big story is concerning Chip Ganassi Racing. The American team, which runs Ford’s GTE/GTLM programme, says it would like to be in prototype racing in the future.
However, the commitment to racing with Ford in GTE/GTLM through 2019 means that any DPi effort is a way away, and that Chip Ganassi Racing is not looking for a reason to leave the GTE ranks.
