Second 911 RSR Delivered To Gulf Racing UK

ELMS and Sebring Programmes Under Consideration

Mike Wainwright was happy to confirm the presence of the Gulf Racing UK Porsche 911 RSR on the entry for the opening round of the European Le Mans Series next weekend at Paul Ricard and added that there was potential for further ELMS rounds to be added to his, and the team’s schedule in the foreseeable future.

That prospect has been boosted very considerably by the recent delivery of the team’s second 911 RSR, the car was initially envisaged as a second possible FIA WEC entry, but with that door closed by entry number constraints plans are being hatched over what action the car might see.

“As always it’s a matter of balance between the races that are available, and my time out of the office,” Wainwright said. “There’s certainly a wish to look at Silverstone and I’d like to add others, but for the moment we aren’t confirming that.

“We are certainly considering though bringing the second car to Sebring. A two-car entry there in the WEC race would certainly have appeal, and I think would attract real interest.”

The second Gulf car is the seventh 2018 customer 911 RSR delivered after the team’s first car, the quartet for Proton Competition and the solo car for new GTE entrants Project 1.

The current plan is that the team will not take part in the ELMS Prologue test at Paul Ricard, meaning its first run with the 2018 ELMS GTE Dunlop tyres will be in the opening practice session of the meeting.
