Amongst the announcements confirmed at the World Motorsport Council meeting in Manila was the destination of the FIA GT Nations Cup.
The GT-Am event, now confirmed for Bahrain International Circuit, will take place from 30 November- 2 December and will see ‘rookie’ and ‘gentleman’ drivers, to be selected with the assistance of their national sporting bodies, compete across the weekend in a format designed to be promoted as a competition between nations.
Absolutely no factory teams will be permitted.
The event is being promoted by SRO and marks the organisation’s return to Bahrain for the first time since 2005 when the final round of the FIA GT Championship took place at the circuit. The circuit has been a firm favourite for the FIA WEC contingent since 2012 (above).
SRO also held their on-off Bahrain GT Festival the previous year.
In addition the WMSC also confirmed the Sporting regulations for the 2018 FIA GT World Cup at Macau. The event will take place on 15-18 November and will, once again, clash with the FIA WEC at Shanghai.
