From South Africa, Steve Wicks clears up the mystery of the no show for the new Pilbeam MP100 LMP2 car at the African 6 Hours earlier this month:
“It was a rush against time to get the LMP2 ready, but they managed.”
“However, when it was about to be loaded Greg Mills (the owner) decided not to go so neither car arrived.” (the new MP100 and the older CN2 MP98)
It’s perhaps no surprise that the owner of the new car opted not to throw it into a 6 hour race so soon after completion.
“The MP100 was instead given a shakedown at the Zwartkops track near Pretoria – a tight 2.4km of tarmac.”
With all hands required for the shakedown that explains too why there was no option for the older car to compete.
