Optimum Back To Defend British GT4 Title

After a lengthy silence, defending GT4 champions Optimum Motorsport have announced that they will indeed be back in the British GT Championship, when they field a Ginetta G55 GT4 for the returning George Murrells and the debuting Tania Mann.

The very rapid Murrells was last seen in the series in 2012, when he raced a G55 GT3 for Optimum. He switched to an Optimum G50 for the Snetterton round that year and took the win with Lee Mowle in the first race. After a year off from racing, he will no doubt be keen to quickly re-establish himself.

Tania Mann comes to British GT with a year of Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2012 in her pocket, where she took four wins in Pro-Am2 and finished second in the class standings.

“Tania is new to GT racing but no stranger to a powerful GT car having spent a season in the competitive Porsche Carrera Cup GB,” said Optimum Team Principal Shaun Goff. “She’s very determined and willing to learn, which is why I’m very happy to welcome George Murrells back to the team as her co-driver with his extensive knowledge with the Ginetta.

“George won the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge title in 2010, and was a part of the Dubai 24 Hour winning team in 2012. As a result I’m excited for the team to begin testing and looking forward to Easter weekend at Oulton Park!”
