Dempsey Proton Racing is set to continue its FIA World Endurance Championship GTE Am programme into 2019/20, DSC has learned.
Team boss Christian Ried spoke to DSC yesterday during a two-day pre-Le Mans test at Spa-Francorchamps and revealed that the team has submitted entries to the organisers for two cars once again.
“We will return with two Porsche 911 RSRs in the FIA WEC, it’s a similar programme to the current season,” said Ried, the only ever-present driver left in the WEC.
“We’re looking forward to it. Our driver line-ups are not confirmed just yet, all we know is that I will be in one of the cars. We should have that all sorted around Le Mans.
“We hope that the GTE Am class will stay at such a high level. It’s been really fun this year.”
Ried also confirmed that the team will continue racing under the Dempsey Proton Racing banner in 2019/20.
Currently, the team is still in with a shot at winning the FIA WEC GTE Am title at Le Mans next month, despite losing all of its points prior to the 6 Hours of Shanghai. It also leads the GTE class points standings in its parallel European Le Mans Series programme after two races.
This week at Spa, the team was running a single (brand new) Porsche 911 RSR, preparing its all-Monegasque trio of Vincent Abril and the father and son duo of Louis and Philippe Prette for Le Mans.
