The second practice session in slightly milder but still chilly conditions saw an Audi 1,2 at the end of the session, but only after a very belated start for the #1 car after a wiring loom issue took some time to fix. Lucas di Grassi though emerged from the pits in fine form and immediately posted a 1:43.134 enough to top the times at the end of session with Andre Lotterer popping up second fastest just a little later.
Kazuki Nakajima had been the early pace setter in the #7 Toyota so we have seen all three factory teams top the times at some point in the meeting so far though this session saw the spread of time sit rather wider than Session 1.
LMP2 saw KCMG’s Richard Bradley set an early mark, later bettered by Olivier Pla in the G-Drive Morgan Nissan – the spread between the four cars here 1.2 seconds, though as some have observed the ELMS cars see significantly faster!
More good early form from Ram Racing saw Alvaro Parente finish the session second fastest, splitting the factory Porches in the #52 Ferrari. The #92 Porsche topped the order though with three tenths separating the top three.
Fourth fastest GT runner was again a GTE Am, Klaus Bachler this time to the fore making it a Porsche 911 RSR 1,3,4 in the session, the #88 Proton car just 0.5 down on the session leader.
The #61 Ferrari (Cioci) and #98 Aston Martin (Lamy) rounded out the top three in the session.
