Hour 6: #10 Cadillac Hits Trouble

In yet another dramatic turn in the 12 Hours of Sebring, the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R. went behind the wall for repairs to the car’s right rear and radiator after contact with the #77 Mazda RT-24P. Scott Dixon was behind the wheel when Oliver Jarvis clipped Dixon at Turn 10, sending the Cadillac spinning and leaving it with a punctured tyre that Dixon was forced to nurse back home.

The #10 Cadillac lost five laps on the field and lost control of the championship as the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R. of Pipo Derani took over the lead of the race. The #31 Cadillac would lose the lead later in the sixth hour of the race, though. With the dramas for the #7 Acura Team Penske ARX-05c and the #10 Cadillac, it’s all still up in the air in DPi.

For now, the #85 JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac DPi-V.R. leads the race. Matheus Leist is on board, but that car still owes the rest of the field a pitstop.

The #6 Acura Team Penske ARX-05c of Juan Pablo-Montoya is the first of the DPi runners who have made a pitstop and will likely cycle to the lead of the race once Leist brings in the #85 Cadillac. The #5 Mustang Sampling w/ JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac DPi-V.R is in third.

The #911 Porsche 911 RSR of Nick Tandy leads in GTLM. It has been stable in that class since the issue involving the #4 Corvette C8.R earlier in the race.

Nicky Catsburg is in the #3 Corvette C8.R. He is within a second of Tandy for the lead of the race after a recent Full Course Yellow for debris bunched the field together. The #25 BMW M8 of Conor De Phillippi is in third.

In GTD, the top eight cars are within five seconds of each other after the FCY restart. For now, it’s Corey Lewis in the #48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 that leads the race. Jan Heylen, who had a stellar stint in the first hour of the race is back in the #16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R and is looking to regain the lead.

From there, it’s the #63 Scuderia Corsa Weathertech Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 and the #86 Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 in third and fourth.

The #96 Turner Motorsports BWM M6 was given a drive-thru penalty for contact with the #86 Acura. The Acura spun on the exit of Turn 1 but resumed with no damage.

In LMP2, the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA 07 has only extended their lead. The #52 ORECA now leads by two laps over the #38 Performance Tech Motorsports ORECA 07. Just before the halfway mark the #52 ORECA came together with the #3 Corvette C8.R. The two cars spun at Sunset Bend, but both seemed to continue with minimal damage.

The #51 Inter Europol Competition ORECA 07, which was leading the race, was involved in a single-car crash at Sunset Bend with Jakub Smiechowski losing the rear of the car on the bumps. The ORECA hit the tyre barriers at considerable speed. Smiechowski walked away from the car dejected, but uninjured.

The car was repaired and is back out on track twenty-laps behind the #52 ORECA.
